What we offer

Weld RE-5J School District Enhances Student Futures with Hands-On CTE Programs

Weld RE-5J School District’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pathways provide students with hands-on, real-world experiences to prepare them for diverse futures, including college, trade school, apprenticeships, or industry certifications. These programs, from elementary through high school, blend academic knowledge with technical skills for high-demand industries. The district collaborates with educational and industry bodies to align its CTE programs with workforce needs, offer comprehensive career guidance, ensure equitable access, and employ certified instructors.

Many Options for CTE Pathways

There are 14 different CTE pathways at Roosevelt High School, while the Middle School Exploratory program at the middle school serves to support a variety of those pathways.  This allows students to explore multiple CTE pathways and participate in more than one as they determine which pathway is their passion!

Middle school and the high school teachers collaborate with their shared Advisory Boards to ensure Weld RE 5J students engage in aligned, high quality CTE programs.  Our students benefit from our teachers’ expertise and the support and partnerships we have with local businesses and organizations.

College, career and technical education options

College Credits in High School

Weld RE-5J high school students may take college, career or technical education courses to earn both high school and college credit at the same time. Students interested in taking classes are required to meet and discuss options with their high school counselor.

Benefits of taking college classes in high school include:

  • Students take challenging courses in their interest area.
  • Students may finish college earlier because of earned college credits.
  • Students may earn an associate degree by the time they graduate from high school.

High school students can take college classes, with tuition paid by Weld RE-5J,  through programs offered by AIMS community college. Students interested in taking college classes are required to meet and discuss options with their high school counselor.

Roosevelt has established partnerships with both Aims Community College and the University of Northern Colorado. Through these partnerships, we are able to offer our students college level courses on the RHS Campus, within the community, or through distance learning. These courses allow the students to get high school credit as well as college credit.

Students may request to take course work at Aims, UNC or other institutions of higher learning and the credit can apply toward high school graduation requirements and college credit toward a degree program. These requests must have principal and counselor approval prior to beginning. Coursework that is offered through our partnership with Aims and offered on our campus through our partnership with UNC will not be approved. There must be a legitimate or personal reason why the particular course is being requested.

Eligible students who desire to enroll in college or vocational classes with our partner schools must complete the appropriate application paperwork for the institution they wish to attend before taking a college course to qualify for tuition reimbursement. Students taking classes with Aims are responsible for the administration fee as well as books depending on the course (this is indicated within the course description).
